North of Pickle Lake the North Road extends all the way to Windigo, giving access to vast virgin forests, never touched by a logger's axe. Thousands of lakes and rivers dot the region, teeming with Walleye, Northern Pike, Trout and other species of fish. Aside from moose, the region offers viewing opportunities for woodland Caribou, the elusive timber wolf, black bear, fur bearing animals, game birds, bald eagles, gulls, ravens, and migratory birds such as ducks, geese and cranes.
